Actor Baburaj made a strong statement after casting his vote in the AMMA elections today, telling reporters that he would quit acting if it is proven that he was behind the case filed against Shwetha Menon.

Baburaj said that once the new committee is formed, its first priority should be to investigate the origins of the case. “Shwetha is a good friend of mine. Such allegations have been around for a long time,” he said, adding that he hopes for transparent leadership and believes the accusations are aimed at him simply because of who he is.

The case in question involves allegations that Shwetha Menon acted in and profited from A-rated films. Rumours had circulated that Baburaj was behind the complaint, as he had earlier withdrawn his bid for the post of general secretary following sexual misconduct allegations. In a previous social media post, Baburaj had announced he was stepping away from all association-related activities, stressing that the decision was not made out of fear.

Meanwhile, voter turnout stood at 298 by the time polling ended, with actor Guinness Pakru casting the final vote.
