Director Priyadarshan, who is currently busy shooting his upcoming project with Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, shared that while he shares a close bond with his daughter, they maintain a clear boundary between their personal and professional lives. “She only tells me about her projects after she completes them. It’s the same with her latest releases. I’m happy that both her films are releasing together,” he had told Onmanorama. “She’s the kind of person who will update you on her latest project only after wrapping it up and showing up at home.”

Kalyani is among the few actors in Mollywood to have had two back-to-back releases in the same week—an impressive feat in itself. Her film ‘Lokah: Chapter One – Chandra,’ directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan, hit theatres on August 28 and received both critical acclaim and commercial success. The film, centered around a superheroine named Chandra, has set a new benchmark in Malayalam cinema for its stylish world-building. Kalyani’s performance in the titular role has also earned widespread praise.

Her second release, ‘Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira,’ directed by Althaf Salim and co-starring Fahadh Faasil and Lal, opened to mixed reviews. In a pre-release promotion event for ‘Lokah,’ Priyadarshan recalled how his daughter had once sought his opinion before entering the film industry. He shared that Kalyani told him actor Nagarjuna had encouraged her to consider acting and asked what he thought about the opportunity.
