Bollywood star Alia Bhatt has showered praise on ‘Lokah’, describing the film as both refreshing and unique. Taking to Instagram Stories, she shared her admiration for the way the film blends genres.
“Such a fresh blend of mythic folklore and mystery! So happy to see the love it's getting. This is a step in cinema that I will always be eager to show my love and support for!” Alia wrote.
Directed by Dominic Arun and led by Kalyani Priyadarshan, ‘Lokah’ has been rewriting box office records in Malayalam cinema. Within just seven days of release, the film stormed into the Rs 100-crore club, becoming the third-fastest Malayalam film to achieve the feat and the twelfth overall to cross the milestone.
What makes this success even more significant is that ‘Lokah’ is a female-led South Indian film — a rarity when it comes to box office dominance. Serving as the first chapter of a planned cinematic universe, the film introduces a superhero narrative rooted in Kerala’s cultural folklore. Drawing from the legend of Kalliyankattu Neeli, it combines myth and fantasy with big-screen spectacle, offering audiences a bold new direction in Malayalam cinema.
