At this year’s SIIMA Awards in Dubai, Malayalam cinema emerged as the clear highlight. Blessy’s ‘Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life’ won Best Film, with Prithviraj Sukumaran named Best Actor and Blessy honoured as Best Director. Debutant KR Gokul also received recognition for his role in the film, making it one of the most celebrated Malayalam movies of the evening.

Urvashi’s moving performance in ‘Ullozhukku’ brought her the Best Actress award, while Joju George’s directorial debut ‘Pani’ won him Best Debut Director. Jagadeesh was recognised for his negative role in ‘Marco’, and Shyam Mohan’s comic timing in ‘Premalu’ earned him Best Comedian. Unni Mukundan won the Critics’ Choice award for Best Actor, underlining his consistency.

On the technical side, Shehnad Jalal’s cinematography in ‘Bramayugam’ and ‘Ullozhukku’ was awarded, while Vaikom Vijayalakshmi (‘ARM’) and K S Harisankar (‘ARM’) took home playback honours. Neha Nazneen was named Best Debut Actress for ‘Qalb’.

While Tamil, Telugu and Kannada industries also celebrated wins — with ‘Amaran’, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ and ‘Gowri’ among the notable titles — it was Malayalam cinema that stood out. From seasoned performers like Urvashi and Jagadeesh to newcomers like KR Gokul and Neha Nazneen, the night reflected the depth and diversity of talent in the industry.
