Malayalam cinema has scored another industry hit this year with Kalyani Priyadarshan’s 'Lokah', which has emerged as the highest-grossing Malayalam film on a global scale. 'Lokah' has surpassed the 268 crore global box office collection of 'Empuraan', cementing its status as this year’s industry blockbuster.

'Lokah' is also the second Malayalam film to earn ₹150 crore from India alone, and the second to collect over ₹100 crore just from Kerala. Earlier, it had already set an all-time record on BookMyShow, achieving the highest ticket sales ever for a Malayalam film through the platform. With 4.51 lakh tickets sold via BookMyShow, 'Lokah' surpassed the previous record held by 'Thudarum'.

The film has enjoyed strong bookings and box office success across its Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi versions as well. Presented as a big-budget fantasy thriller, it features an ensemble of guest stars including Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas.

'Lokah' is the first film in a five-part superhero cinematic universe. The cast also includes Naslen, Chandu Salimkumar, Arun Kurian, Sharath Sabha, Nishanth Sagar, and Vijayaraghavan. Produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Vefeer Films, the film has drawn particular praise for Kalyani Priyadarshan’s portrayal of Chandra, a modern reimagining of Neeli, the iconic yakshi from Kerala folklore. Durga C Vinod, playing the younger version of Chandra as Kalliyankattu Neeli, also received widespread acclaim for her captivating performance.
With its box office records, pan-India appeal, and ensemble cast, 'Lokah' has firmly established itself as one of the landmark films in recent Malayalam cinema.
