Veteran actor Mammootty is all set to rejoin the sets of ‘Patriot’ in Hyderabad on October 1. The highly anticipated film, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, marks a major reunion—bringing together Mammootty and fellow superstar, Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Mohanlal, after a gap of 12 years.
The duo was last seen together in ‘Kadal Kadannu Oru Mathukutty’, where Mammootty played the lead and Mohanlal made a cameo appearance. Prior to that, they both shared screen space in the multi-starrer Twenty:20 (2008).
According to reports, Mammootty will play the lead role in ‘Patriot,’ while Mohanlal and Kunchacko Boban will also appear in significant roles. Speaking to Manorama News, director Mahesh Narayanan shared his excitement: “We’re all thrilled to have Mammookka back on set,” he said, clarifying that Mammootty’s absence hadn’t delayed the shoot. The team had utilised the time efficiently by filming portions involving other cast members.
He revealed that the upcoming schedule will include combination scenes with Mammootty and Mohanlal, after which the crew will head to the UK for the next phase of filming. Mahesh also noted that while Mammootty may not have been physically present on set during the break, he remained actively involved in the filmmaking process. “I would visit his house to show him edits. He was completely part of the process, even if he wasn’t on location,” the director said.
Ramesh Pisharody also shared an update about Mammootty's return to the film sets. Ramesh, while talking to the media, said Mammootty is expected to travel to UK for the shoot post the schedule in Hyderabad.
