Actress Rhea Chakraborty has received her passport after a five-year wait, following a Bombay High Court order directing the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to return it. The document had been seized in 2020 in connection with a drugs case linked to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Rhea posted a photo on Instagram holding the passport. She wrote: “Patience was my only passport for the past 5 years. Countless battles. Endless hope. Today, I hold my passport again. Ready for my Chapter 2! Satyameva Jayate.” Her post drew congratulatory messages from celebrities including Karishma Tanna, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Vikrant Massey.

A bench led by Justice Neela Gokhale observed that there was no reason to doubt the actress’s intentions and directed that her passport be restored. The court, however, imposed conditions: she must be present at every hearing unless exempted, submit her travel schedule with flight and hotel details four days prior to departure, keep her phone active, and inform probe agencies immediately upon her return.

Rhea, who was arrested by the NCB on September 8, 2020 and later granted bail on the condition of depositing her passport, had recently filed a fresh plea through her lawyer Ayaz Khan seeking its release. Her counsel argued that she had fully complied with court directions and that the restriction was preventing her from taking up international projects.
