‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’, the all-time blockbuster of Malayalam cinema, has reached a historic milestone. The film has entered the ₹300 crore box office club, making Lokah the first Malayalam movie to achieve this feat, as per data from Sacnilk.
Released on August 28, the film continues to attract packed audiences across theatres in Kerala. It had earlier set a record on BookMyShow, selling 4.51 lakh tickets—the highest ever for a Malayalam film—surpassing the previous record held by Thudarum.
The film’s success extends beyond Kerala, with strong bookings and box office performance for its Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi versions. Presented as a big-budget fantasy thriller, Lokah features an ensemble of guest stars, including Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas. It is also the first instalment in a five-part superhero cinematic universe.
The cast includes Naslen, Chandu Salimkumar, Arun Kurian, Sharath Sabha, Nishanth Sagar, and Vijayaraghavan. Produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Vefeer Films, the movie has been widely praised for Kalyani Priyadarshan’s portrayal of Chandra—a modern reimagining of Neeli, the iconic yakshi from Kerala folklore.
With its record-breaking box office run, pan-India appeal, and stellar ensemble cast, Lokah has firmly established itself as a landmark in contemporary Malayalam cinema.
