'Thamma', the Bollywood film featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, is out now in theatres. The film produced by Maddock Films best known for bankrolling the superhit 'Stree' franchise, is a horror-comedy, which revovles around a vampire and a news reporter meet in the forest. The first reviews of the film is out, with many netizens calling it a complete entertainer, having plenty of elements to appease the audience. However, others were more critical of the film, and stated that the film does not have enough heart.
One X user praised the chemistry between the lead actors, especially stating that Ayushmann’s performance is the highlight of the movie. Others maintained that the film is visually striking.
"Thamma is visually striking with energetic song sequences. The story moves smoothly and keeps you invested in the characters," wrote a person who goes by the name Moon on X.
“Thamma (2025) is loud, weird, and totally unbothered by logic, and that's exactly why it works. Ayushmann Khurrana fights vampires in neon-soaked alleys, and I had more fun than expected. It’s messy, funny, and self-aware enough to get away with its flaws, wrote Hawrry on X.
A user ShrishtySays wrote, “Thamma mixes family-friendly humour with relatable emotion. The festive energy and vibrant visuals make it enjoyable.”
However, a couple of social media users like Fatman felt ‘Thamma is a rushed product.’ “The jokes don't fall in place and the emphasis is on setting up the universe rather than the characters. Sometimes it’s ok not to bring in the bollywood masala. This is something Maddock Films needs to learn fast. Such movies should have a properly spaced-out written narrative with seeds for the expanded universe. Not the other way around. The cast and the director did a decent job, and the movie is an ok watch, but it had the potential to be something awesome,” the user wrote.
