Amaram, starring Mammootty, Murali, Ashokan, and Mathu in the lead roles, is hailed as a cult classic in Malayalam cinema. Mammootty’s portrayal of Achootty remains one of his most beloved performances. Now, 33 years after its release, Achootty and his darling Muthu are set to captivate audiences once again — this time in stunning 4K quality. The makers have officially confirmed that Amaram will be re-released in theatres across Kerala on November 7.

A milestone in Mammootty’s illustrious career, Amaram cemented his reputation as an actor of extraordinary depth and range. The film beautifully depicts the lives of ordinary fisherfolk along the coast, standing as a worthy successor to the classic Chemmeen. Directed by master craftsman Bharathan and written by the legendary Lohithadas, the film remains a timeless exploration of love, ambition, and sacrifice.

Art director Sabu Cyril added authenticity and magic to every frame, crafting a world that vividly captures the soul of coastal life. Complementing the visuals are the film’s evergreen songs and soulful background score. The music composed by Raveendran perfectly mirrors the emotional turmoil of the lead characters, while the late music composer Johnson’s moving background score and Kaithapram’s poignant lyrics elevate 'Amaram' into a musical masterpiece that continues to resonate across generations.

The film’s re-release is handled by FEOUK, with Cyber Systems acquiring the overseas distribution rights. Manju Gopinath serves as the film’s PRO.
