The film ‘Thudakkam’, directed by Jude Anthany Joseph and featuring Vismaya Mohanlal in the lead role, has officially commenced shooting in Kochi. Notably, Ashish Antony, son of Antony Perumbavoor, will also play a significant role in the movie, which is being produced by Ashirvad Cinemas.
The pooja ceremony saw the presence of Mohanlal, his wife Suchitra, and their son Pranav Mohanlal. Reflecting on the occasion, Mohanlal shared that he never imagined his children—Vismaya and Pranav—would pursue careers in cinema. “Both of them value their privacy, and I respected their decision when they chose to follow their own paths. However, when Vismaya expressed her interest in acting, I wholeheartedly supported her. With our own production house and the strong backing of Antony Perumbavoor, we are able to help her embark on this journey into films,” said Mohanlal.
According to him, they waited for a good script and decided to cast her in ‘Thudakkam’, which had a good concept. “I named her Vismaya because everything in my life has felt like a wonder. I never aspired to be an actor, but it was my destiny. I believe the same holds true for my children. Pranav, too, won the Kerala State Film Award as a child actor and continues to be involved in films. Vismaya, on the other hand, was actively engaged in her school’s theatrical productions and has won several accolades,” he said. He added that an actor’s success also depends largely on the support he receives. “I was never alone in my journey, and I don’t think any actor can achieve heights alone. I had a congress of supporters, including directors and close friends, who shaped my journey. I wish my children the best of luck,” he said.
He also introduced Ashish as one of the main characters in the movie, though it is yet to be clarified what his role in the movie would be. Ashish had previously played Antony Rawther in Prithviraj’s directorial ‘Empuraan’.
