The team behind Karikku, which popularised the concept of web series in Kerala, is all set to make their big-screen debut. They have launched their own production house, Karikku Studios, and will be collaborating with Dr. Ananthu Entertainments for their maiden production venture. Nikhil Prasad, the creative mind behind Karikku, will direct the yet-to-be-titled film.

The makers are expected to announce further details soon. The shoot is scheduled to begin in December 2025, with a theatrical release planned for the following year.  Nikhil Prasad launched the Karikku YouTube channel in 2018, which quickly became a massive hit for its relatable humour and witty dialogues, earning a huge fanbase in a short span of time.

The Karikku team announced the big news through a signing video shared on their official Instagram handle. According to Karikku Studios, the banner will focus on producing both films and web series in the future.  Meanwhile, this project marks the second film to be bankrolled by Dr. Ananthu Entertainments, who are also co-producing Athiradi, the debut production venture of actor Basil Joseph.

'Athiradi' is a multi-starrer featuring Tovino Thomas, Basil Joseph, and Vineeth Sreenivasan in lead roles. Directed by Arun Aniruddhan, the film is set to release next year.
