Divya Sridhar and Kris celebrate first wedding anniversary amid online trolling

Television actors Divya Sridhar and Kris Venugopal recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary. In a video shared on her YouTube channel, Divya proudly proclaimed that their marriage had completed a year, even though many had criticised and mocked them for tying the knot.

“You must have understood the significance of this day. A year ago, Moorthy Muthassan from Patharamattu and Chandramathy from Sukhamo Devi had a ‘controversial’ marriage. We have completed a year of marriage, even though people criticised and mocked us saying that we would part ways soon. I thank everyone who has held us closer and included us in your prayers.

Many people express their love and affection whenever they meet us, and I can’t thank them enough for their constant support,” said Divya. “We truly need your prayers and blessings. You have always treated us like members of your own families, and I’ve felt that love deeply, especially after our marriage. Though the mockery never seems to end, today my eyes are filled with tears of joy. Those who choose to make fun of us will continue to do so, but we’re happy knowing that, in some way, we’ve become a reason for their happiness,” she added with a smile.

The actress shared that a small outing has been planned to celebrate their wedding anniversary since Kris has been busy with work. She also mentioned that they had recently celebrated Kris’ birthday in a grand manner. “We go out for dinner only occasionally. This time, he surprised me with a small but meaningful gift. So, those who mock us may continue doing so, and those who pray for us—please keep us in your prayers,” Divya said warmly.

Kris, who knows Divya’s tastes well, gifted her a thoughtfully curated box containing glass bangles, sarees, memorable photographs, and a keychain. In return, Divya presented him with a photo frame and a coffee mug as tokens of love.

Divya, originally from Kannur, has two children from her previous marriage. Her wedding with Kris became one of the most talked-about celebrity events on social media in 2024. However, the celebrations were soon followed by controversies and online trolling. Many mocked Kris, calling the 49-year-old an ‘old man,’ while others accused Divya of marrying him for his wealth. This is also Kris’ second marriage.
