Megastar Mammootty, celebrated for his wide-ranging contributions to Malayalam cinema, received this year’s Best Actor Award announced by Culture Minister Saji Cherian on Monday. The veteran actor, who recently resumed filming for Patriot after a short break, addressed the media outside his residence in Elamkulam in Kochi shortly after the announcement.

In his statement, Mammootty began by congratulating his fellow award recipients, emphasising that the honor is a celebration of one's journey in cinema, not a competition. "A big congratulations to all my co-actors who are also recipients of this year’s awards," he said. "And to those who didn’t receive an award this year, there’s always next time. Awards are a journey, not a competition."

When the media mentioned that he won the award with younger actors, Mammootty responded with humor, saying, ‘I’m still young.’ This year’s recognition adds to his illustrious legacy, following his win in 2023 for Best Actor for his performance in Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam. His versatility was also showcased in Bramayugam, where he portrayed the distinctive role of Kodumon Potty, a tantrik. This latest award marks his eighth Kerala State Film Award in various categories.
