Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who turned 60 on Saturday, expressed regret to his fans who had assembled outside his Mumbai residence, Mannat, after he was advised not to step out for safety reasons.
The actor, known for greeting his admirers every year from the balcony of his sea-facing Bandra home, said he was saddened to miss the moment this time. “Have been advised by authorities that I will not be able to step out and greet all you lovely people who have been waiting for me. My deepest apologies to all of you but have been informed that it is for the overall safety of everyone due to crowd control issues,” Khan wrote on X.
“Thank you for understanding and believe me… I will miss seeing you more than you will. Was looking forward to seeing you all and sharing love. Love u all…” he added.
Fans from across India and abroad had gathered outside Mannat, holding placards, flowers and wearing T-shirts with the actor’s image. Many braved the rain and waited since morning, with some even climbing trees to get a glimpse of their favourite star — a cherished annual ritual for them.
Police personnel were deployed around Mannat to manage the heavy crowd and ensure public safety. Although the house is currently under renovation, many had expected Khan to continue his birthday tradition from the balcony.
