Janardhanan opens up about his extra-marital affair

Veteran Malayalam actor Janardhanan has made a surprising revelation about his personal life. In a candid interview with Vanitha’s YouTube channel, the actor opened up about an extramarital affair he had for over 18 years, revealing that his wife was aware of it and had come to terms with the situation.

Janardhanan shared how he had known his wife since childhood, and that their bond was built on deep trust. "I was very close to her growing up. I was headstrong, and despite what others thought, I married her. My wife, who studied in Delhi, is fluent in both Hindi and English. She is not only beautiful but also graceful. Her father was a Lieutenant Colonel in the army, and they had a privileged life with excellent education and a high standard of living," he explained.

However, Janardhanan confessed to having been involved in an extramarital affair that lasted for 18 years. He admitted that although his wife was not pleased with the situation, she chose to adjust. "My wife knew about the affair, although she didn't approve of it. She understood because she trusted me, having known me since we were young. The affair happened because my wife lost interest in intimacy. I was only human. I did everything I could for her, but I was drawn to another woman."

According to the actor, it was the woman involved in the affair who eventually ended it once her son grew older. She reportedly became concerned about the potential shame the relationship could bring if it became public. "She broke up with me when her son grew up, as she feared the societal stigma," Janardhanan revealed.

Despite the affair, Janardhanan emphasised that his marriage remained intact, and no one in his family was hurt by his actions. "People often ask me why I had an affair despite loving my wife deeply. The truth is, my wife knew everything. She trusted me because she’s known me since childhood and knows who I am. There was no impact on our family. I’m only speaking about this now because I feel it’s time to open up. Other than this, there’s no dark chapter in my life," he added.
