Vijay Babu has officially joined the sets of ‘Aadu 3’, the third instalment of the comedy franchise that has taken Malayalis to the heights of laughter. He steps back into the role of Sarbath Shameer, the cult-favourite cop and Shaji Pappan’s unforgettable arch rival. The actor shared a video from the location on social media, giving fans a glimpse of his return to the character.
The clip opens with a quick shot of Sarbath being prepped, before cutting to Vijay Babu arriving on set. It shows him stepping out of his car, heading into his caravan, changing into his police uniform and greeting the crew. Director Midhun Manuel Thomas and his team welcomed him in full Sarbath Shameer style, adorning him with a garland of lemons. “Let him at least solve the case this time,” Midhun joked as the actor walked in, fully dressed as his iconic character.
Sharing the video, Vijay Babu wrote: “Aadu 3 – The synonym for bravery, Sarbath Shameer restarts his valiant work from where he stopped.”
Sarbath Shameer, portrayed by Vijay Babu, remains one of the most memorable characters in the ‘Aadu’ universe. The no-nonsense cop who constantly clashes with Shaji Pappan and his gang became a fan favourite for his earnest blunders, distinctive dialogue delivery and perfectly timed comedic villainy.
‘Aadu 3’, with Jayasurya returning as Shaji Pappan, is directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas. Reports suggest that the new film is being mounted on a larger scale as a time-travel project, with the director earlier hinting that it will lean toward fantasy. The movie is produced by Vijay Babu and Venu Kunnappilly under the banners of Friday Film House and Kavya Film House, and will also feature familiar faces like Dharmajan Bolgatty, Vinayakan and Saiju Kurup.
With expectations sky-high after the massive success of ‘Aadu 2’, fans are now eagerly waiting to see whether ‘Aadu 3’ will recreate the same magic. The film is slated to hit theatres in March next year.
