Malayalam movie ‘The Pet Detective’ brings a burst of chaotic humour and quick-fire action as it heads to OTT later this month. Sharafudheen leads the film as Tony Jose Alula, an underperforming private detective who spends most of his time waiting for a case big enough to prove he’s not a failure. When he finally lands a seemingly harmless missing-pet assignment, Tony believes his moment has arrived. What he doesn’t expect is how fast everything will spiral out of control.

Director Praneesh Vijayan steers the story into full-blown comedic madness as Tony’s routine case turns into a labyrinth involving kidnappers, international smugglers, a missing child, exotic fish dealers and even a notorious Mexican mafia don. Sharafudheen not only stars in the film but also makes his debut as producer.

Anupama Parameswaran joins him in the cast, along with Vinayakan, Vinay Forrt, Shyam Mohan and Joemon Jyothir, each adding to the film’s eccentric energy. The narrative leans heavily on colourful characters, sharp comedic timing and a climactic stretch packed with the kind of loud, overlapping humour that defined classic Priyadarshan comedies.

Billed as a fast-paced, family-friendly entertainer, ‘The Pet Detective’ aims to deliver an easy, fun watch for viewers looking for a mix of slapstick, silliness and action.
The film begins streaming on ZEE5 from November 28.
