Mollywood has been delivering some groundbreaking films in recent months. ‘Eko’ directed by Dinjith Ayyathan and written by Bahul Ramesh is among the latest movies that hit theatres on November 21, alongside Prithviraj and Shammi Thilakan-starrer ‘Vilayath Buddha’. Both films have shown contrasting box-office trends, according to the latest reports from box-office tracker Sacnilk.

As per Sacnilk's data, Vilayath Buddha had a stronger opening, earning Rs 1.7 crore on its first day across India. In contrast, Eko had a slower start, collecting under Rs 1 crore on its opening day. However, both films saw different patterns over the weekend. Eko experienced a significant surge, with a 131.25% jump in box office collections on Saturday, and early estimates for Sunday put its total at Rs 5.80 crore.

On the other hand, Vilayath Buddha, directed by debutant Jayan Nambiar, saw a decline. The film earned Rs 1 crore on Saturday , with early estimates for Sunday falling below the Rs 1 crore mark, though the collection may have improved later in the day. Overall, Eko has garnered a total of Rs 5.80 crore over its first three days, while Vilayath Buddha has earned Rs 3.50 crore.
