Mammootty-starrer ‘Kalamkaval’, which was set to hit theatres this week, has finally locked its release date. The makers of director Jithin K Jose’s Malayalam film, which will also feature actor Vinayakan opposite the megastar, have now announced that the film will hit screens worldwide on December 5.

Taking to its Instagram page, Mammootty Kampany, the production house of actor Mammootty said, "We know you've waited long.. The wait will be worth it... Kalamkaval In Cinemas Worldwide from December 5 , 2025. Keep Calm and wait for him..."

The Censor Board has officially cleared the film for release, granting it a U/A certificate. Mammootty himself confirmed the news, stating, "Kalamkaval has been censored with a U/A 16+ certificate. Coming to cinemas soon." The film has sparked considerable interest among fans and film enthusiasts ever since the release of its teaser.

The teaser opens with a door being knocked. A Tamilian opens the door and asks, "Who are you?" The scene shifts to a police officer questioning another cop, whose identity is kept a mystery, asking, "Are you the one who's Nath?" What follows is a gripping sequence of visuals featuring the two lead actors, Vinayakan and Mammootty. Vinayakan, who appears to be a police officer, maintains a grim demeanor throughout, while Mammootty, whose role remains ambiguous, exudes the calm, collected air of someone who is observing and surveilling from the sidelines.

The film, Mammootty Kampany's seventh production, comes with the intriguing tagline: "The Venom Beneath." Earlier this year, the makers unveiled the second-look poster of Mammootty from the film. In their social media post, Mammootty Kampany wrote, "Some faces raise questions… not answers. Presenting the second look poster of #Kalamkaval, directed by Jithin K. Jose."

'Kalamkaval', the shooting of which was wrapped up in November last year, has a story and screenplay by Jithin K Jose and Jishnu Sreekumar. It has editing by Praveen Prabhakar and cinematography by Faisal Ali. Music for this exciting entertainer will be by young composer Mujeeb Majeed. Stunts for the film have been choreographed by Action Santhosh.
