Veteran actor Mammootty, known for his consistent voting record, was unable to cast his vote in the ongoing local body elections in Kerala, currently being held across seven districts. The actor, who is in Kochi filming for the Mahesh Narayanan-directed film ‘Patriot’, set to release early next year, found his name missing from the voters' list for the local body elections. According to official sources, this was due to his relocation to Elamkulam in 2020.

Although Mammootty voted in the previous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, he was unable to register his vote in the last local body elections as well. Prior to moving to Elamkulam, Mammootty and his family lived in Panampilly Nagar, where they voted at the Panampilly Nagar Government Higher Secondary School. After their shift to Elamkulam, they have been voting at the Ponnurunni CKC LP School.

Mammootty made a comeback to films after a short break due to health complications. He returned to the sets of ‘Patriot’ in October, while his latest film ‘Kalamkaval’ is currently running housefull post its release last Friday.

Meanwhile, the first phase of the local body elections began on December 9. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam make up the phase-one districts, while the remaining districts will go to the polls in the second phase of voting on December 11.
