Aryan Khan, who made his directorial debut with the Netflix series 'The Ba***ds of Bollywood', is celebrating a major milestone. The show, released in 2025, has topped IMDb’s list of the most popular Indian series of the year, marking a strong start for the first-time filmmaker.
Reflecting on the success, Aryan said the response was exactly what the team aimed for. “Seeing 'The Ba***ds of Bollywood' become IMDb’s most popular web series feels like we achieved what we set out to do – shake the room and own the conversation,” he shared. He added that the series was meant to capture “the madness, the magic, the mischief, and the raw ambition” of the film industry without softening any edges.
Calling the global fan reactions a sign that the show had entered pop culture, he said, “The memes, the fan edits, the arguments – that’s when a show becomes culture, not just weekend entertainment.” Aryan thanked viewers for making the series a breakout hit, adding that this was “just the beginning.”
Released in September, 'The Ba***ds of Bollywood' quickly emerged as one of 2025’s most talked-about OTT titles. The story follows Aasmaan Singh (played by Lakshya), an ambitious outsider navigating the chaos, glamour, and power struggles of the Hindi film industry. Mixing sharp satire with high drama, the series offers a peek into the messier side of Bollywood.
The show also made headlines for its surprising cameos by Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Karan Johar and others. Written and directed by Aryan Khan and produced by Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment, the series features an ensemble cast including Lakshya, Bobby Deol, Mona Singh, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Manoj Pahwa, Manish Chaudhari, Sahher Bambba, Gautami Kapoor and Rajat Bedi.
