'Feminichi Fathima' locks OTT release date. Know when and where

The critically-acclaimed Malayalam film 'Feminichi Fathima,' which premiered in theatres in October, has announced its OTT release date. Directed by Fasil Muhammed, the film stars award-winning actress Shamla Hamza in the lead role. Shamla, who won her first Best Actress award at the 55th Kerala State Film Awards, delivers a powerful performance as the protagonist.

The film tells the story of a housewife in Ponnani whose seemingly mundane life, controlled by patriarchal norms, is upended when she demands a new mattress after her old one is ruined by her son. This small request sparks a profound journey of self-discovery, challenging rigid societal norms, asserting her rights, and confronting her husband’s resistance—all while navigating the pressures of cultural expectations.

Featuring Kumar Sunil, Viji Viswanath, and Pushpa Rajan in supporting roles, 'Feminichi Fathima' is produced by Sudheesh Scaria and Thamar K V. During a session at the Manorama Hortus in Kochi, Shamla expressed her joy at winning the award and encouraged others to chase their dreams.

'Feminichi Fathima' made its debut at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) last year, quickly becoming a crowd favorite. The film went on to win several prestigious awards, including the FIPRESCI Award for Best Film in the International Competition, the NETPAC Award for Best Malayalam Film, The Jury Award and Audience Poll Award at the IFFK. It also won the Kerala Film Critics Award for Best Film. The film’s digital premiere will take place on Manorama Max starting December 12.
