Popular singer Chinmayi Sripaada has spoken out against the disturbing rise in mobbing incidents involving actresses at public events. The most recent case involved Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who was nearly overwhelmed by a crowd during an event in Hyderabad's Jubilee Hills. In viral videos, Samantha is seen struggling to reach her car, clearly distressed by the mob surrounding her.
Chinmayi also shared how Samantha's security personnel Arya attempted to shield her from the crowd, risking his own safety in the process. "Arya was literally using his entire body to protect her. He must have had several bruises, at the very least. It's not an actress' job to control a mob of people who don't understand basic civil behavior," she said.
Just last week, actress Nidhhi Agerwal, known for her roles in films like Munna Michael, faced a similar situation during the promotional event for the upcoming film The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas. Nidhhi was surrounded by a frenzy of fans eager to catch a glimpse of her or snap selfies, with the crowd pressing in from all sides.
This isn't an isolated case of women actors being subjected to unsafe and invasive behavior. In 2022, Malayalam actresses Grace Antony and Saniya Iyappan had their own traumatic experience when they were molested by members of the crowd at a mall in Kozhikode during a movie promotion. Meanwhile, national newspapers have reported that the Hyderabad Police have registered an FIR against the hosts and organisers of the event after Nidhi Aggarwal was harassed at the public event.
