The much-anticipated release of Watusi Zombie, the Malayalam film that generated considerable buzz at the 29th International Film Festival of Kerala last year, has finally premiered on digital platforms. The critically acclaimed film is now available on YouTube.

The quirky title matches the film’s equally quirky storyline. Directed by Cyril Abraham Dennis, the 60-minute film showcases a talented cast and crew, all of whom are under 25 years old. Set in Kochi, the film primarily uses English dialogue and presents a fun, distorted view of a world unfamiliar to the typical Malayalam cinema audience.

The protagonist, Grindset Gabriel, is a young stand-up comedian looking to reboot his career and find a real opportunity to break through. The film is inspired by a song composed by Jan Davis and initially intended as a short film.

In a recent interview with Onmanorama, actor Siddharth Rangan, who plays a role in the movie, mentioned that while they started with just a basic concept, they spent a considerable amount of time rehearsing. Director Cyril Abraham Dennis also shared that he found the writing process relatively easier compared to the rest of the production. Rohan Muralidharan serves as the film's Director of Photography.
