Friends remember Kannan Pattambi, an actor, production controller and brother of filmmaker Major Ravi, as a presence defined by love, whowho stayed devoted to his friendships even through illness.
Advocate Haroon Rasheed, a close friend, has recalled Kannan Pattambi as someone often misunderstood. “From the stories you may have heard, people tend to think he was a bit reckless. But that was not the case. He was one among us, a man who knew how to love. Even when he was unwell, he was always eager to be with us. No matter how serious the subject, he had an extraordinary ability to explain it with humour. We often listened to his behind-the-scenes stories from cinema, which were more engaging than the films themselves.
"He was one of the early members of our Walkers Club and, above all, a Pattambi native known across the region. Our Kannanettan has gone ahead of us. This is the Walkers Club, Pattambi, paying its tribute,” Haroon Rasheed wrote.
Kannan Pattambi, the son of Kuttishankaran and Sathyabhama, was the brother of film director Major Ravi. He worked in production management on the movies directed by Major Ravi, Shaji Kailas, V K Prakash, Santosh Sivan, K J Bose and Anil Medayil, among others.
He also acted in several films, including Pulimurugan, Punaradhivasam, Ananthabhadram, Odiyan, Keerthichakra, Vettam, Crazy Gopalan, Kandahar, Thantra and 12th Man. Rachel, which is soon slated for release, was his last film. He had been undergoing treatment for a kidney-related illness for a long time.
