Prithviraj-starrer 'Khalifa' hit theatres recently, and the makers have already announced a sequel, ‘Khalifa: The Legacy,’ which will feature screen icon Mohanlal in a lead role. In ‘Khalifa,’ Mohanlal makes a brief but impactful appearance as Mambarackal Ahamad Ali, one of the film’s major highlights.
Speaking about his cameo at the film’s success meet, Mohanlal noted that his character makes his entrance only towards the latter part of the movie. “Whenever I act in a movie or speak about it, I always pray for it to become a grand success. I am grateful to the director and writer who gave me this role, and also to Prithviraj, who played the lead role,” he said.
The actor then left the audience in splits with a playful remark about his character. “Mambarackal Ahamad Ali is a nice guy. You should give him the chance to do a lot of good things,” Mohanlal quipped. Besides Mohanlal, Tovino Thomas, Soubin Shahir and Prithviraj are also set to play pivotal roles in the sequel. 'Khalifa: The Legacy' was announced in the presence of Prithviraj and other prominent actors at the Khalifa success meet held in Kochi on the film’s release day.
'Khalifa' has opened to mixed response from moviegoers since its release. However, Prithviraj’s mass-action sequences, coupled with Jakes Bejoy’s pulsating score, have emerged as major attractions, adding to the film’s visual and theatrical appeal.
