Director Midhun Manuel Thomas, who is known for helming superhit movies 'Aadu' and 'Aadu 2' is reportedly set to write the screenplay for 'CBI 6', the sequel to the blockbuster investigative series. The previous film 'CBI 5: The Brain' hit theatres a year ago and received mixed reviews from the audience.

S N Swamy, had written the screenplay of the last five movies – 'Oru CBI Diary Kurippu', 'Jagratha', 'Sethurama Iyer CBI', 'Nerariyan CBI' and 'CBI 5: The Brain.'

Mammootty reprised his iconic role as Sethurama Iyer in all the five films. The final franchise was based on basket killings and featured a couple of actors, including Renji Panicker and Pisharody, who were not part of the initial films. Actor Jagathy Sreekumar, who has stayed away from the silver screen due to his ill-health, made a special appearance in this franchise.

S N Swamy recently turned director for his upcoming film starring Dhyan Sreenivasan and Aparna Das and this could be the reason why he won't be part of 'CBI 6'.

Midhun Manuel's crime thriller 'Anjaam Pathiraa', which got released in 2020, was praised for its direction and interesting storyline. The prospect of Midhun writing the screenplay for 'CBI 6' is expected to excite fans of the series directed by K Madhu.
