Poornima Indrajith opens up on her second innings with 'Virus'

The Malayali audience would be surprised to know that it was eighteen years ago that actor – anchor - designer Poornima Indrajith had last acted in a movie. She, however, has always been closer to her fans as an amazing anchor in many super hit television shows. The actress is thrilled to have essayed a prominent role in the much awaited Aashiq Abu directorial Virus.

Second innings

“My family earns our livelihood from cinema. So, I have always been with cinema. I don’t wish to term my role in Virus as a comeback. In my second stint, I have decided to essay the roles that can satisfy the actor within me. I am definitely fortunate that I can take such a liberty,” notes Poornima.

No to films

Poornima admits that she had stayed away from the films owing to many familial problems. She believes that cinema isn’t something that should be pursued while going through such experiences. Poornima thinks that it wouldn’t have worked out had she done movies during that time.

The different eras

As she has returned to acting, Poornima feels that the cinema and the people have become one, instead of viewing films and those working the movies as aliens. She attributes it to cinema finding more tales from among the common people. “There are many who stumbled during a phase of change in generation in cinema. I am happy that I am able to reach out to the new age as well. I consider myself extremely fortunate that I didn’t miss out on a golden age like this in cinema,” says Poornima.
