What is the most indispensable factor in a marriage? Love, trust, understanding...? For Vinay Forrt and his team, it is ladoo! The young actor's upcoming flick 'Ladoo' narrates the tale of a venturesome register marriage, which is graced with no splendid feast or desserts but some ladoos. With more than 38 movies to his name, Vinay Forrt, a Pune film institute alumni hailing from Fort Kochi, is familiar to Malayalam movie-goers. Many of his characters, such as Vimal 'Java' sir of 'Premam,' Venu' of 'Kammattippadam' and Vijay of 'Avarude Raavukal' turned out to be hugely popular. 'Ladoo' will hit the theatres on Friday. Directed by debutant Arungeorge K David, 'Ladoo' features new-gen faces like Shabareesh Varma and Balu Varghese in addition to newcomer Gayathri Ashok. In a candid chat, Vinay Forrt shares his 'Ladoo' experience.
About the character

I play the protagonist character Vinu in the movie. Vinu is an ordinary youngster, who falls in love with Angeline, the heroine. He is a nervous, timid youth who faces problems in decision making. However, he decides to get hitched with a woman whom he met just 25 days ago. The movie is about Vinu's adventurous trip to register his marriage with Angeline, in an old Omni van with his friends. Shabareesh, Balu and Pashanam Shaji (Saju Navodaya) play the roles of my friends.
Some of my previous characters, like those in 'Shutter,' 'Apoorvaragam' and 'Urumbukal Urangarilla' had posed serious challenges to my acting skills. When compared to all those, Vinu was rather an easy character to enact. This movie doesn't have twists, suspense or unexpected turns in the storyline. It is a full-fledged entertainer with soothing music, romance and comedy.
What hooked you in 'Ladoo' the most?

The main thing that attracted me is the ingenuity of the movie. I am happy that I could be a part of 'Ladoo'. There are more interesting characters than mine in this movie. Shabareesh plays a character called SK who is an outright boaster. He boasts of the most unnatural things that do not happen at all. SK is also a fan of Tollywood actor Allu Arjun. There are many factors that would hook you in this movie more than just protagonists or their lives. It speaks about a sudden register-marriage. All those who plan to register your marriage should watch this movie before you tie the knot. 'Ladoo' will give you a complete list of dos and don'ts to follow while organising a register marriage.
Chemistry with Gayathri Ashok

Gayathri joined this project after she cleared the auditions. 'Ladoo' is her first movie. I am sure she didn't feel awkward because right from the director himself, there is a full team of freshers who worked behind this movie. Arungeorge K David had penned 'Masala Republic,' a 2014 political satire. As there were no senior artists and technicians working with us, we all engaged in a give-and-take policy by offering enough support, guidance and criticisms to our co-actors. There was a warm family-feeling on the sets. I am sure Gayathri felt at home. She delivered a very natural performance before the camera.
The name Ladoo

A cute, spherical dessert with mild sweetness. This movie is is very simple, but exciting like a ladoo. Imagine what happens when a group of idiots ventures out to get their confused friend married with his short-tempered girlfriend! All types of audience can enjoy this movie – just like even diabetic people relish ladoos!
