Lakshmi told Bala and Jani are gone

Thiruvananthapuram: Lakshmi, the widow of musician Balabhaskar, has been told the terrible truth that her husband and only daughter Tejaswini have left her forever.

It was Lakshmi's mother who informed her of the tragedy as she lay under medical watch at the Ananthapuri Hospital, often lapsing into a comatose state. She heard hermother's words, but did not react immediately. The family feels she might have understood what was conveyed to her.

Lakshmi was on ventilator support since she was admitted after the car accident on September 25 that wrecked their lives. The ventilator was taken off and she was able to breathe normally on Monday.

Her mother reportedly conveyed the tragic news as Lakshmi started listening carefully.

It was musician and Bala's close friend Stephen Devassy who told the world on Facebook on Sunday that Lakshmi had regained consciousness. Hospital authorities said she is taking liquid food and the progress in her health is satisfactory.

Balabhaskar passed away after a week's struggle last week. The child, fondly called Jani, had died in his lap as the accident occurred late last month.
