Vaikom Vijayalakshmi heading for divorce? Here's the truth

Speculations about singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi’s personal life have been running rife on various social media platforms since the past few days.

All is not well?

These reports began to appear when the singer posted a few pictures and posts which were filled with sadness and reflected a depressive state of mind. Meanwhile, her fans have been wondering why Vijayalaskmi was absent from the mainstream music scene since some time.

Discussions about her personal life gathered momentum when pictures and posts that brim with hopelessness and dejection appeared on her social media accounts.

While some were worried about her health others began speculating whether there are any problems in her marital life. A few online media portals published articles with headlines hinting that the singer is headed for a divorce. All these misleading news articles were widely shared on the social media.

Father slams reports

While Manorama Online tried contacting Vijayalakshmi to know the truth, she was unreachable. When some of her colleagues were contacted, they replied that they had no news about the singer for some time. However, the reporters were able to contact her father V Muraleedharan. When the reporter conveyed the fans’ concerns about Vijayalakshmi’s health, Muraleedharan said that she was in good health. However, he spoke to Manorama Online when he was informed that false news was being spread about Vijayalakshmi’s personal life.

“My daughter has no problems and she is living peacefully at our home in Vaikom. Music concerts and other programs are not being held due to the Covid restrictions. That is why she isn’t seen in the main stream music scene. The pictures that are being shared on the social media were posted by someone else. All those pictures and news reports are baseless. She isn’t appearing in front of anyone due to the pandemic crisis. There is no truth in what is being shared on the social media. She is at home and is very happy. The discussions that are taking place about her life are unnecessary,” said Muraleedharan.

Leading life peacefully

Vaikom Vijayalakshmi rose to stardom after the song Katte Katte from the movie Celluloid became a hit. The singer had also won the special jury prize at the Kerala State Film Awards. Meanwhile, the song Ottaku Padunna Poonkuyile that came out next year won her the state award for best female playback singer. Her song Kando Kando Innolam from the Mohanlal starrer Ittymani Made in China, that released last year, too got noticed.

Vijalakshmi is married to mimicry artist Anoop who is also an interior designer. The couple got married in a simple temple ceremony on 22 October 2018. Vijayalashmi was earlier in the news when she broke off her engagement when her fiancé had demanded that the singer should say goodbye to her music career after marriage. Vijayalakshmi married Anoop, also an artist, expressing hope to support each other’s passion and careers. The singer has the wholehearted supported of her family, especially her parents Muraleedharan and Vimala, in pursuing a fabulous career in the Malayalam music industry.
