Diljit Dosanjh dedicates song to Rihanna for supporting farmers' protest

Actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has released a new song praising American popstar Rihanna after she expressed support for farmers’ protests.

The song

Titled ‘RiRi’ in her honour, the Punjabi song has been written Raj Ranjodh with music by Intense.

The song was released shortly after Rihanna's tweet drawing attention to the farmers' protest against the Indian government's farm laws went viral. 

Why the dedication

Diljit has been a strong supporter of the farmers’ protests.He has repeatedly expressed his solidarity on social media and had earlier was seen joining farmers at the protest site at Delhi's Singhu border on 6 December.

Earlier on Wednesday, Diljit had shared a photo of Rihanna on his Instagram story. He did not write anything along with it, but added her song Run This Town along with the story.

Diljit also shared a Punjabi proverb on Twitter and wrote: "Jaat Di Kohr Kirli, Shateeriyan Nu Jaffe…” meaning, 'Your status in life is rather insignificant but you know how to talk big.'

How it all began

Sharing an article about the internet being cut around New Delhi amid the ongoing farmers protests in India, Rihanna on Tuesday asked her Twitter followers, "Why aren't we talking about this".
