Kerala's nightingale K S Chithra posted a bittersweet note on social media, remembering her late daughter, Nandana, on her birthday.

Nandana was eight years old when she accidentally fell into the pool of her house in Dubai in 2011, leading to her immediate death.

The singer, in her note, stated that she missed her daughter a little more this year. "Happy birthday in heaven where you celebrate with angels, just love everywhere, where the years come and go and you never grow old. Though I know you are safe even though you are away I love and miss you a little more today. Happy birthday my dearest Nandana," she wrote.

Nandana was born to Chithra and Vijay Shankar in their 14th year of marriage. The child, who was special for their parents from day one, was named Nandana, after the popular Malayalam film Nandanam featuring Navya Nair.

Nandana was a specially-abled child as she was born with Down's Syndrome. Though many had advised the couple to adopt a child, they refused. In one of her interviews, Chithra said she was not willing to adopt a child due to her age.
