Playback singers Sayanora and Resmi Sateesh have staged a protest against the Brahmapuram dump yard fire by presenting poet Injakadu Balachandran’s famous poem, ‘Ini varunnoru thalamuraykku ivide vasam sadyamo,’ on their social media pages.

Reshmi sang to the tune of Sayanora’s guitar rendition. The video was filmed by Vishnu Govind. Sayanora while sharing the video wrote about the importance of preserving the environment and also in creating a peaceful atmosphere to live in.

In 1992, when the garbage problems in Alappadu panchayat near Karunagapally, Kollam became acute, for the awareness-raising trip to the backwaters, Inchakad Balachandran wrote the song “Can the next generation live here?”

Later this song was included in the album called ‘Janakeeya Ganangal.’ The song was composed by Pangodu Radhakrishnan and sung by Johnson. Much later it was singer Resmi Sateesh who popularised this song on social media.
