Eggs, cheese, beef and liver are rich sources of Vitamin D which is very essential for the brain development of the fetus. Exposure to sunlight is also a natural way to get enough Vitamin D. Eggs, which are rich in choline and amino acid, also contain protein and iron which helps to increase the weight of the baby. If the weight of the fetus is already high, pregnant women are advised to consume these food items, which are also rich in fat, in minimum quantity.

Sea food rich in iodine and clam meat promote the growth of the brain cells. Iodine deficiency in the first twelve weeks of pregnancy may severely affect the brain development of the fetus. Iodized salt could be used during pregnancy. Fatty fishes like northern red snapper, mackerel and tuna, which are rich sources of Omega 3 fatty acids, are integral to your baby’s brain development. Pregnant women should have at least two servings of fish per week.
