Meet Jehan Razdan - little chef extraordinaire

Like mama, like daughter! Little Jehan Razdan cannot but be anyone else other than the chef of the world she surveys. Daughter of cookery expert Jumana Khadira, young Razdan is currently showing off her culinary skills at the Sharjah Expo Centre, where the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival is being held.

Jehan has been clubbed along with world-renowned seniors and will be rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s finest culinary experts like Susanna Husseini from Canada, Jenny Tschiesche , Lara Starr and Nancy Mcdougall from the UK and Mark Ainsworth from the US.

Jehan enjoys a lot of visibility on YouTube with her “Jehan’s Kitchen” videos and is quite a celebrity in her own right both in the UAE and India. Not a wee bit camera-shy, the little chef enjoys doing her dishes under the arc lights. Mum Jumana, an expert chef and an anchor too, is Jehan’s inspiration. Cooking is fine for her, but some day, she would like to be a doctor like her grandma, says this twinkle-toed KG-2 student of the Grammar School in Abu Dhabi. She was also a runner-up in one of the baby shows in Abu Dhabi.

The girl had endeared herself to viewers with her kitchen skills in Al-Ain last month. Apart from cooking, she loves to dance, sing, tell stories and make videos. It was work that took her father Razdan Khan, a native of Sultan Bathery in Kerala to Abu Dhabi. She has a younger brother Adnan Razdan.

Along with the reading fest at the ongoing event in the UAE, the organisers are holding cookery contests for juniors and seniors as well. A batch of specially selected eight children, including Indians, will be taking part in the competitions. Live cooking demos at the event’s Cookery Corner will be among the highlights of the Children’s Reading Festival.
