'Puttu' ing it: Kicha from Kochi in 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'

The six-year-old chef from Kerala, who runs his own YouTube channel, Kichatube, was on The Ellen DeGeneres show, winning hearts and applause for his endearing chatter and masterful cooking.

Classic Ellen DeGeneres humor didn't seem to get in the way of Kicha, who was all set to teach the United States how to make puttu, a traditional Kerala breakfast item. He had revamped the simple steamed rice cake to incorporate ripe plantain and honey to make it more delicious.

While Ellen tripped on her tongue pronouncing 'puttukutti', the cylindrical vessel in which the dish was to be steam-cooked, Kicha astutely sensed it and asked her to call it whatever she liked!

Although he couldn't elaborate the preparation but had to make do with an already prepared set platter of delicious puttu, the crowd loved his spunk when he asked them all to subscribe to his channel through Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
