A mammoth egg salad from Kochi to set new world record

A giant egg salad made in Kochi, measuring 814.58 ft long, is heading its way into setting a new world record for the longest egg salad ever made. The attempt was made in relation with the World Egg Day on Sunday, as part of Haritholsavam farmers' fest organized by the Farmer's Association of India at Marine Drive.The event was organized by Kerala Congress (Thomas) in association with world's largest omelette café chain Egg Stop and SKM Eggs.

The egg salad was prepared by over three hundred people including a hundred Home Science students form St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam, under the guidance of around 20 chefs of Egg Stop restaurant.

The mammoth salad was made using 7,000 boiled eggs and nearly 200 kilogram vegetables. Vegetables including carrot, onion, cabbage, cucumber, celery and zucchini was used in the salad.

It was initially planned to make a 1000 ft long salad using 10,000 eggs but later reduced the length due to space constraint. The current record for the longest egg salad belongs to a 625 ft long salad prepared in Michigan, U.S.
