Food festival in Kochi to create awareness: Vandana Shiva

Thiruvananthapuram: Different ethnic and traditional food delicacies will be showcased at 'Annam', the National Food and Agro Biodiversity 2015 festival at Kochi from December 10 to 14. Addressing a press conference to announce the details of the festival, noted activist Vandana Shiva said the objective of the festival was to create awareness of the ill effects of artificial food items available in the market. She noted that more than 75 per cent of diseases are caused by food habits. Vandana said there would be 250 stalls at the mega exhibition that would showcase the traditional and local food varieties. Seminars and workshops on 'organic' farming and other related agriculture and food issues also would be held as part of the festival, she said. The Centre For Innovation in Science and Social Action is organising the festival in association with various government departments including food and agriculture.
