Hi-tech kitchens soon to be a significant feature of our households

Technology has become an indispensable part of our daily lives, and it has almost made its grand entry into our kitchens as well. Earlier, even kitchenette could aptly be labelled ‘hi-tech’ if appliances like a microwave oven, blender or a grinder were found adorning its counter tops. The Family Hub smart fridge refrigerator recently introduced in India by a leading Korean company , acts as an efficient manager that can take control of a kitchen. The fridge which costs Rs 2.80 lakh, operates on the basis of IOT. You don’t even have to open the fridge to see what is in it. An in-built camera will show all the items stored in the fridge on a 21 inches screen outside. Besides, the expiry date on each item would also be displayed on this screen.

You can communicate with the fridge with the help of a ‘virtual assistant’. You can see visuals from inside the fridge using an application in your mobile phone even if you are not home. With the help of this app you can even write reminder notes on the fridge’s screen. If connected to a smart door bell, you can see the person standing at the door, on the screen attached to the fridge.

Besides this smart fridge, another home appliance company has launched a smart microwave oven and a smart dish washer. The functions of these appliances can be regulated and operated with the help of mobile phones.

• Smart scales can be used to measure the ingredients to the exact amount.

• Smart plates can easily give advices about the nutritional values and the calories contained in the food served on it.

• Smart bulbs which can be turned on and off without hands can be used in kitchens.

• Don’t worry if you are running short of grocery items. The smart jars will add it to the shopping list on your mobile application.

• In a smart pot, you can add all the ingredients to prepare your favourite dish and set the timer. It will utilize minimum electricity to cook the dish to perfection within the set time.
