Will the mega khichdi at the Dalit meet in Delhi break the Guinness record?

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party is all set to serve khichdi (dish made with rice and lentils) at the mega Dalit rally which will be held on 6th January at the Ramleela ground. The Scheduled Caste Morcha, the SC wing of the BJP, aims to enter the Guinness Book of World Record by preparing a 'mega' khichdi using 3000 kilograms of rice. Currently, the record for the largest quantity of khichdi is held by the one cooked with 918.8 kilograms of rice. It was the internationally acclaimed Indian chef, Sanjeev Kapoor, who created history by cooking the dish at the World Food Event in 2017.

Mohanlal Gihara, the president of the Delhi unit of the SC Morcha revealed that the organization has already roped in Nagpur based culinary expert Vishnu Manohar and his team to break the current record for the largest quantity of khichdi ever made. Khichdi is an extremely nutritious North Indian dish made with rice, lentils, fresh vegetables, ghee and salt. Even doctors recommend khichdi in the diets for its incredible nutritional value. The record breaking khichdi will reportedly be prepared in a specially set up make shift kitchen in the Ramleela ground, in a giant vessel which is 20 feet wide and 6 feet deep inside.

The ingredients required to make this khichdi will be collected from around 3 lakh Dalit households in Delhi. The Morcha leaders say that ingredients from almost 2 lakh homes have already been collected and would soon complete their mission.

The party’s leaders claim that around 50,000 dalits would participate in the mega event, which is conducted to ensure the dalit community’s support for the BJP in the forth coming Lok Sabha elections. Many eminent leaders of the BJP are expected to take part in the event which will be inaugurated by the party chief Amit Shah.
