Sheela Tomy of Kallivayalil House in Kottayam bakes around 2000kgs of home-made cakes in the rich fruit, super rich and exquisite varieties. She starts preparation in March itself when fruits are chopped and soaked in wine. The exquisite variety that is packed in custom made teak wood boxes costs Rs 3000 per kilo. Meanwhile, Kunjumol G Murikkan, a homemaker from Panakkapalam sells more than 60 varieties of cakes including orange cheese, dry fruits and Christmas surprise.
