Refrigerator has become an unavoidable appliance in our households. From cooked food, meat and fish to fruits and vegetables, we store everything in the fridge. However, most people complain that their fridge has a foul smell, which can be bothersome. You can try these easy tips to keep the fridge clean and get rid of foul smells.

Clean it regularly
Make sure that the fridge is cleaned regularly. Do not wipe using a wet cloth or tissue. Fridge cleaning solutions are easily available in the market, or you could make them at home. You can prepare this by mixing baking soda and lime juice. This solution can easily remove stains and foul smells.

Curry leaves
After cleaning the fridge, keep curry leaves, limes, or cloves in it. These have a pretty strong smell which could mask the foul smell. Moreover, the smell would keep away small insects.

Airtight containers
Leftover food items should always be stored in air-tight containers. This would prevent the smell of the food from spreading inside the fridge. Besides, this would keep the food fresher for longer periods.

Vinegar
Boil water by adding vinegar and keep this water in the fridge for 4 – 6 hours. This solution would absorb the foul smell in the fridge. If you use apple cider vinegar to prepare this solution, the fridge would smell of fresh apples when you open the door.

You could soak cotton balls in essential oils and keep them in the fridge. You could also use vanilla essence to make your fridge smell amazing.
