May it be French fries, Crispy Smashed Potatoes, simple potato curry, thoran, or mezhukkupuratti (stir fry), the numerous dishes prepared out of the vegetables are loved by most. However, some people might find the task of peeling potatoes and mashing them a bit difficult.

A social media video recently revealed a trick to not only peel potatoes in a flash but also mash them simultaneously. A deep colander is used to peel and mash potatoes in one stretch. The video starts with boiling the potatoes and keeping them in a vessel. Each one is then picked up and cut into two. Each of the pieces is placed inside the colander or a deep slicer tawa generally used to drain off oil from fried, and then pressed against using a small flat-bottomed vessel.

One may be amazed to find that the mashed potato falls into the vessel kept below while the vegetable skin remains in the strainer. For this to work, one will have to use well-boiled potatoes so that they don't slide off when you try to mash them. Try this trick to see whether you like this method of mashing your potatoes.
