The recent focus on Lakshadweep tourism has brought many benefits to the islands and the latest in the list is the launch of Swiggy food delivery services. Swiggy, which is the first online food delivery platform to operate in Lakshadweep, announced the service as part of the Republic Day celebrations. Initially, Swiggy will be available at Agatti Island.
As part of the launch in Lakshadweep, Swiggy has announced several inaugural offers such as a 50-percent discount on orders up to Rs 100 for first-time customers and free delivery for first orders.
Considering the natural beauty of the islands, Swiggy’s operations will be entirely eco-friendly. All the deliveries will be done on bicycles, said national business head of Swiggy Marketplace Sidharth Bhakoo.
“Swiggy’s services will enable the residents of Lakshadweep as well as tourists to enjoy food from the best restaurants in the region. Our operations will also boost the business of the food outlets in Lakshadweep,” he added.
Moreover, partnering with Swiggy will enable the youth on the islands to find a new means of income, said Bhakoo.
