Thottavadi kanji – mimosa pudica porridge to cure monsoon ailments

Thottavadi kanji

Unlike it's cocktail namesake, sipping this mimosa porridge won't give you any hangovers. Instead, it can instantly boost your energy and lift your mood. Made with the paste of touch-me-not or mimosa pudica plant, the thottavadi kanji is a healthy concoction to be served on a rain drenched evening.

Ingredients
1 cup raw rice
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 of a coconut scraped
1 tbsp shoots of thottavadi (mimosa pudica) ground to a paste
Salt to taste

Preparation
Boil water and cook the rice
Crush coconut and cumin together
Add it to the cooked rice and bring to a boil
Now add the mimosa paste and salt
Mix well and cook for 5 minutes
Serve hot
