Kadala Curry with Soy Sauce

This isn't your usual kadala curry; it's flavoured with soy sauce and garnished with fried potato and bread croutons. It's unusual and much in demand!

Ingredients
250gm whole Bengal gram (2 cups approx), soaked overnight
Water, as required
Salt, as required
2 dsp soy sauce
1 dsp lemon juice
2 tsp chilli powder
1 dsp butter
Oil, as required
3 tsp coriander powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ cup onion fried


For the Topping


A few sprigs of coriander leaves
1 cup fried strips of potato
1 cup bread croutons (bread pieces deep fried in butter)


Preparation
In a pressure cooker, empty the Bengal gram
Pour enough water and add ½ tsp salt
Close and cook for 45 minutes on medium flame
Meanwhile, pour 2 dsp oil in a pan
Add the soy sauce to it
Stir lightly and once it bubbles up, add coriander powder, chilli powder and turmeric powder and stir well
Add the fried onion and saute well
Add enough salt
Empty the boiled Bengal gram into the pan and mix well
Drop the butter into the pan
Sprinkle the lemon juice and blend well
Pass it over to a bowl, decorating it with more fried onion, fried potato and coriander leaves
Delicious Kadala Curry is ready to serve
