Breadfruit is that cheap and protein rich alternative for potatoes in various dishes that easily grow in your backyard. The soft and spongy fruit can also be transformed into spicy and crunchy fries to snack on. Try out this easy breadfruit chips recipe that can multitask as a side dish as well as an evening snack.

Ingredients
1/4 kg breadfruit
3/4 tbsp chili powder
1/4 tsp pepper powder
1/4 tsp mustard
10 shallots
4 garlic cloves
1 small piece of ginger
Salt as required
Oil as required

Preparation
Peel and slice the breadfruit into 1/4 inch thick and 3 inches long pieces
Steam cook these slices and set aside
Grind shallots, garlic cloves, ginger, mustard, pepper powder and chili powder into a fine paste
Apply this paste on the cooked breadfruit slices
Heat oil in a pan Fry the slices until their sides turn brown
Serve as a snack or as a side dish along with steamed rice
