Easy lunch recipes for kids

Nutritious and well-balanced meals are essential for the proper growth and development of kids. However, kids show aversion to many food items that are rich in proteins and vitamins. So, it is important to pack varied and interesting dishes in their lunch boxes to make them eat healthy. Here are some recipes of tasty and nutritious dishes that kids would enjoy.

Vegetable pulao

Vegetable pulao is a wholesome dish that can be had for lunch. Heat oil and roast cloves, cinnamon and cardamom. Mix boiled veggies, green peas and some onions sautéed in ghee. Now add boiled basmati rice or regular rice. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves for added flavour and aroma. Enjoy vegetable pulao with yoghurt raita and a boiled egg.

Stuffed chapathi

Add some spinach or drumstick leaves while mixing the chapathi dough. Make small balls from this dough. Roll a dough ball into a chapathi and place some yellow lentils boiled with salt and pepper in the center. Place another chapathi over it and press the edges. Rub some ghee and cook both sides. Stuffed chapathi could be enjoyed with a curry. The chapathi would be soft and fresh if wrapped in soft muslin cloth. You could also pack yoghurt raita which is refreshing.

Khichdi is prepared by cooking rice and pulses together. Yogurt and coriander chutney are the perfect accompaniments.

Tomato rice

Tomato rice is prepared by mixing boiled rice in a sauce prepared using nicely cooked ripe tomatoes. Boiled egg and yoghurt raita could be served with this.
